Gavin started Scottish country dancing when he was just 3 years old and wanted to join his older sisters. One of the first things he did was hide under the table and bite his teacher’s leg because he was pretending to be a (badly-behaved) Pongo the dog.
As he got older, Gavin learned to appreciate the beautiful music, fancy footwork, and especially, the lifelong friends in the dancing community! After his undergrad, Gavin returned to help out and eventually teach in his former children’s group. He has taught all ages and skill levels and loves the combination of elegance, athleticism and fun that is SCD. Outside of dancing, Gavin is working on a PhD studying the 8th century theologian, St. John of Damascus, and is the summer director of Camp Scugog, a camp geared towards children, youth and moms affected by poverty and other barriers. Gavin is looking forward to teaching at the Lethbridge Workshop and meeting new members of the Scottish Country Dance community! |
